Needlework embroidery from Paraguay Сanduti is made on a handloom called a “bastidor” it is a wooden frame that linen fabric is stretched across. The patterns are then traced on to the fabric. Once the Сanduti is finished, it is wetted and starched with an almidon made from the root vegetable mandioca or yucca. It is placed in the sun to dry and harden. Once it is dry, it is cut away from the fabric and the Сanduti is finished. |
